The 10 most-visited websites for houses of Spain

Written by Rinus van Vliet op 28 April 2013

The 10 most-visited websites for houses of Spain  Buying a house in Spain usually starts with looking at a number of Spanish property sites. Often you visit non-Hispanic sites. Do you want information closer to the source? Have a look at the Spanish websites. Spanish people frequently use them and usually they are free. Estate agents use them and sometimes use these sites pay for them.  The 10 biggest Spanish property websites in order. It is a good way to look what's for sale in the area that you would like to purchase. Comparing prices is also important. Check the list here.

1 - Spanish, English and German with 2,094,000 visitors per month, the most visited website for houses of Spain. If you look at the number of properties advertised on Fotocasa, they come in 2nd place in Spain with 1.2 million homes. - Schibsted

2 - Number 2 on the list is Idealista on the basis of the number of visitors per month. On average, there are 1,734,000 per month. Given the number of advertised houses, this site with 1.3 million homes is in 1st place in Spain. Of course, the site is in Spanish, English, French, and German.

3 - Great site, this is number 3 on the Spanish property rankings. This website only advertises apartments. More than 200,000 properties, but solely for rental. On average, the site Enalquiler has 1,336,000 visitors per month.

4 - In fourth place with 1,247,000 visitors per month. A website with almost 700,000 properties. A small drawback, the site is only in Spanish.

5 - The 5th in the series of estate agent websites in Spain. The site Yaencontre shows nearly 800,000 homes and has averaged nearly 1 million visitors per month. The site also advertises jobs and courses. Spanish language only.

6 - is only in Spanish. They advertise 250,000 homes on this site every month, 456,000 visitors view, on average.

7 - 7th place, the website mainly advertises homes in northern Spain, Catalonia. Multilingual site, English, French, German, with an average of 335,000 visitors per month and 114,000 properties.  8 Great site with supply and demand in a comparable marketplace. A special home section of 240,000 homes. On average, this site accounted for 143,000 visitors per month. - Schibsted

9 - The number of visitors is not known, hence the site is at position 9. If you look at the number of homes, nearly 500,000 are on the website, so could be 5th in ranking. Many offers, but only in Spanish.

10 - The bottom of the list is the site tupiso, but still a good site with an average of 63,000 visitors per month. A range of 400,000 homes.

The three best websites with houses for sale in Spain

These are the top three websites with houses for sale in Spain we used for our search. Tonight we’re flying to Spain again; hoping to leave it with a property on our name. A property where we can start a retreat place. Fingers crossed.

Fotocasa was the first website we used to find a house. In this case an apartment (rent) on Tenerife. Fotocasa has apartments for sale and for rent. It’s a website used by a lot of real-estate agents in Spain to promote the houses they have for rent or for sale. You can select where you’re looking for (type of house), price, where you are looking and how many rooms and space you want.

The ads for houses don’t get updated. Instead new ads for the same house are put on the website. So you’ll find the same house with different prices. Also houses that are for rent on the site may be rented out weeks ago.  Descriptions are often very limited. The quality of the photos is low; as with a lot of Spanish real-estate agent sites. The site will also show you the extras of the house, like washing machine, television and more.

You can contact the real-estate agent through the website by filling in a contact form. The contact details of the agent are shown as well.

Kyero is used by as well Spanish as English real-estate who have houses for sale in Spain. You can search on budget, property type, amount of rooms, swimming pool or not and new build or not. The site gives a good overview of all the stats of the house: plot size, location, pool, garden, utilities and more. Photos are generally big and the photo carousel.

You can contact the real-estate agent through the website by filling in your name and email address. The contact details of the agent are shown as well. You can’t search on plot size.

Think Spain

Think Spain is a website used by English (and English speaking) real-estate agents, located in Spain. It is Your English Spanish website. It’s a news site, but also has ads for houses for sale, for rent and ads for jobs. You can fill in your budget, the type of house you’re looking for, the amount of bedrooms and bathrooms you want and if you want a house with a swimming pool and/or a garage.

Descriptions are often limited and photos are too small to get a good impression of the house. The stats are limited to type house, place, province and square meters of living area. If you want more information you can leave your name, email address and phone number. The website doesn’t show which agent is selling the house.

More sites with houses for sale in Spain

There are a lot more websites with houses for sale in Spain, but they are – generally – the websites of the real-estate agents themselves. A thing to keep in mind is that in Spain the owner of a house won’t select one real-estate agent to sell his house, but will use as many as there are. That means most real-estate agents offer the same houses for sale.

If you know more good websites with houses for sale in Spain, just leave them in the comments.
